LGBT Women in governments

Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir (born 4 October 1942) a publicly assumed gay and an Icelandic politician and the former Prime Minister of Iceland. She became active in the trade union movement, serving as an officer. Elected an MP from 1978 to 2013, she was appointed as Iceland's Minister of Social Affairs and Social Security, serving from 1987 to 1994, and from 2007 until 2009. She has been a member of the Althing (Iceland's parliament) for Reykjavík constituencies since 1978, winning re-election on eight successive occasions. She became Iceland's first female Prime Minister and the world's first openly lesbian head of government on 1 February 2009.

Ana Brnabić (Serbian born 28 September 1975) is a Serbian politician who has been the Prime Minister of Serbia since 29 June 2017. She is the first woman and first openly gay person to hold the office.

She was previously the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government of Serbia from 11 August 2016 until 29 June 2017, under Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić and Acting Prime Minister Ivica Dačić. After Vučić was inaugurated as the President of Serbia on 31 May 2017, he proposed Brnabić as his successor in June.

Her government was voted into office on 29 June 2017 by a majority of 157 out of 250 Members of the National Assembly of Serbia.
