INTERVIEWING KAT_GIBSON

Kat_Gibson is the head of the Hall of Fame and involved in the Selection of Entrants.

She met with Claire_B_dO on December 12th 2022 at a venue in world called Club Inferno.

The Hall of Fame is private like a club, etc. and should not be understood as the RLC Hall of Fame.

Claire_B_dO: Hi Kat, first of all I would like to thank you for agreeing to meet for an interview.

Kat_Gibson: You’re most welcome Claire.

Claire_B_dO: First I would like to ask you how long you have been in RLC?

Kat_Gibson: I have been a member of RLC since December 2006.

Claire_B_dO: Wow, long time. Do you remember was brought you here in the first place?

Kat_Gibson: Well, my husband found the site first and said I should give it a try.

Claire_B_dO: Is he here too?

Kat_Gibson: Not any more. He has many health issues and hard for him to be here.

Claire_B_dO: So, you have been here for almost 16 years. What keeps bringing you back?

Kat_Gibson: Basically to meet people from around the world. And somehow I became involved with helping members here early on. Though I have had a couple times where not on much due to various Real Life reasons.

Claire_B_dO: I believe you are also involved with an RLC Hall of Fame of some kind. That must also be a lot of fun to be a part of.

Kat_Gibson: Yes I am party of the Hall of Fame. It is a lot of fun checking out all the clubs, djs, bands, dance teams who have been nominated, see if they meet certain criteria, and get selected for the Hall.

Claire_B_dO: Ah I see. So then a dance team or RLC band get nominated and put forward to you and it's your job to go check them out?

Kat_Gibson: Yes and a committee. We vote on them. No one knows who the committee is. So if you want to nominate any of the above, feel free to contact me.

Claire_B_dO: That's sensible. But again, it sounds like good fun.

Kat_Gibson: It is really good fun. When I notify of their winning, they are so surprised and excited.

Claire_B_dO: Naturally. And again, it's great to be the bearer of such good news for people.

Kat_Gibson: It is split into categories, I have also added a section for memorials. Those that were nominted and in the Hall who have passed away.

Claire_B_dO: Yeah, we have lost a lot of people even in the 7 years I have been here. I am curious about the process of the Hall of Fame. So, someone nominates a DJ, Dance Team, Band etc and then you and your colleague come to visit their events to check them out. Do you tell them what you're doing?

Kat_Gibson: We let them know when they have been selected. Some have absolutely no idea they were nominated and is such a surprise.

Claire_B_dO: And this is done at any time of the year, or specific times like the old RLC Awards used to be? I have some experience with the old RLC Awards as I won RLC Singer of the Year back in 2017 :)

Kat_Gibson: Right now I am in the process of the nomination process and announce the winners in January or February.

Claire_B_dO: Ah so it's a specific time of the year.

Kat_Gibson: I won an award which was a total surprise to me from the old RLC Awards for DJ.

Claire_B_dO: Excellent. And anyone can nominate teams, bands DJ's etc?

Kat_Gibson: Yes, anyone can.

Claire_B_dO: Thank you. I wasn't aware of that and I am sure many of The Amazon Times readers also won't be.

Kat_Gibson: A lot are, many may not be, I have a list i am going thru now. Feel free to get the word out.

Claire_B_dO: This interview will be published around January 8th, is that too late for you?

Kat_Gibson: There will still be a little time to get in nominations. Feel free to let anyone know.

Claire_B_dO: Excellent, well maybe you will get some extra nominations from it. Apologies in advance if it causes you extra work!

Kat_Gibson: The template will be made for the award, so all i will need to do is check them out, get the logo for the award and put in the hall.

Claire_B_dO: What are the Hall of Fame Categories?

Kat_Gibson: The categories are: Clubs, Bands, DJs, Dance Teams, Party Hosts, i think i got them all.

Claire_B_dO: How is the Hall of Fame advertised now?

Kat_Gibson: Beginning this year I hope to put out a Bulletin announcing all the winners.

Claire_B_dO: How do people know about its existence?

Kat_Gibson: On my profile there is a picture of the Hall of Fame and soon will be a picture of Hall of Fame 2. Also through word of mouth from previous winners. The winners are permitted to put a picture of their award on their profile as well as clubs they perform in with the club owner’s permission.

Claire:B_dO: Where are how do you announce the nominees?

Kat_Gibson: We announce the winners at the clubs whether it be for a dj, dance team, club etc.

Claire_B_dO: Where and how does the committee announce the winners:

Kat_Gibson: The committee tells myself how they have voted, we take a average and if above a certain number from 1 to 10, the club, dj, dance team etc announce it using Purple.

Claire_B_dO: Do you ever update the categories, add new ones etc?

Kat_Gibson: We added party Host year before last, and by those I man for example Chaoss & Co. or those hired to hosts parties to greet, etc such as Mali.

Claire_B_dO: Yes, thank you for your time Kat. It is really appreciated.
